SHIRAAZ ALI MURAL

Shiraaz Ali’s ‘Growing Together’ is a hand-painted mural on the walls of the Pangboune Meadow area of Regent’s Park Estate which aims to inspire residents to celebrate and connect to Nature.

Shiraaz was deeply inspired by the diverse and unified communities of the Regent's Park Estate and wanted to create a colourful, joyful and meaningful mural that reflects the cultures and local people who live there. The artist has responded to the aspirations of the local community to celebrate the diverse local communities, both human and non-human.

The completed mural offers a dramatic, colourful and joyful new passageway through and across the estate. The design includes images of local wildlife including the stunning centrepieces: fox, pigeon, hedgehog, squirrel and parakeet, an array of multi-coloured flowers and bees, as well as a few local pets!

Pangbourne Meadow and walls have been selected by residents as an area in need of attention and enhancement. The area was previously very neglected and a site of anti-social behaviour. Over the last three years the area has benefitted from improvements and interventions made directly by the community, including planting a wildflower meadow and planting two fruiting blossom trees.

SRPE is a Community Champions Regent’s Park project, produced by ODAC in partnership with Camden Council Parks and Open Spaces, Fitzrovia Youth in Action and University of the Arts Central Saint Martins through T-Factor. The project is funded by HS2 via Camden Council and EU Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme.
