IN THE SHADE OF STREETLIGHT - JACK WATES

Jack’s multi-layered tapestry of light is a large-scale projection adorning an end of terrace wall at Munster Square. The illuminated design includes a collection of motifs and patterns, inspired by workshops held with the local community, encompassing textiles, shadows, figures and local architecture. The light-based artwork is viewable from dusk.

With thanks to Paul Simson from Enlighten Architectural Lighting and the team at OpenView for their electrical installation expertise.

‘The project manifests as a layered tapestry, with the aspiration to create co-existing narratives that allow different people on the estate to connect in unique ways. I want workshop participants to feel a connection with the work and residents to develop a sense of ownership. I hope the project helps bring a unique sense of place to this corner of Munster Square.’ - Jack Wates
