WOMAN WHOLE -
YARA + DAVINA

YARA+DAVINA’s artwork comprises a series of three, bronze ‘Woman Whole’ covers set into the granite road surface of Everton Mews. By incorporating themes of women’s resilience, empowerment and resistance, the hand-made covers reclaim and playfully subvert the notion of traditional manhole covers, offering instead a reflection on what makes a woman ‘whole.’

By seamlessly blending into their surroundings, each of the Woman Whole covers add a subtle element of surprise for anyone happening to notice them as they casually walk past.

With thanks to Designer Katie Tooke and to Rich and Flo at The Lost Foundry for skillfully casting the covers.

‘We hope the public will stop and notice our playful Woman Wholes, and reflect on some of the themes; of resistance, resilience and what it means to be whole. We made these with and for women, and think these gently subversive, powerful public artworks are making something invisible visible.’ - Yara El-Sherbini & Davina Drummond, YARA + DAVINA
