Join us for a fun-filled day of creativity and community at the Regent's Roots Festival on 3rd August. 

Imagine a day filled with an eclectic mix of performances: brilliant dance acts, spellbinding circus shows. Immerse yourself in a variety of workshops, engage with interactive art installations, and enjoy a feast of free food, all set against the vibrant backdrop of the streets and spaces of Regent’s Park Estate and Regent’s Place.

Part of Love Camden’s South Asian Heritage Month programme.

New performances from our community’s long-running youth dance project, featuring choreography from Mia Stott-Cohen, Boogie plus guest choreography by Absolute Bollywood.

Local favourites return with their high-energy Bollywood fusion that gets everybody dancing.

A joyful performance with short dance ‘games’ to connect people of all ages with the childlike joy of play - and each other! Elegantly played & facilitated by our friendly team of performers, some games are mesmerising and fun to watch, and others invite everyone to join - #LetsPlayARCADE!

THE PLACE PRESENTS CHARGE! BY SONIA SABRI COMPANY IN COLLABORATION WITH RESIDENTS

2pm - Procession, starting at ODAC Stage 

What does the world need to make it a better place? Together we’ll learn about South Asian dance and drumming, how to mash it up with inspirations from HipHop and Folk to create something completely unique! Made during the week prior to the festival, through hands-on workshops commissioned as part of Love Camden’s South Asian Heritage Month programme.

LIVE MUSIC FROM STEEL PAN MUSIC CIC

2.30pm - ODAC Stage

Joyful live music performance on authentic acoustic instruments. Steel Pan has deep local Roots - the UKs first ever Caribbean carnival was organised by resident Claudia Jones in 1959 at Camden Town Hall!

ROLL PLAY BY SIMPLE CYPHER

2.45pm (Warm up from 2.30pm) & 4.45pm (Warm up from 4.30pm) - Bucklebury Stage

Prepare to be amazed by the explosive tricks and artful dexterity of Simple Cypher as three performers blur the boundaries between hip hop and circus through a series of playful interactions challenging identity, status and societal roles.

BORN TO PROTEST BY JUST US DANCE THEATRE

3.30pm - Bucklebury Stage

Choreographer Joseph Toonga works at the forefront of Hip Hop in the UK and internationally. This piece dismantles presumptions about the black female figure based on intimidation, danger, and isolation, revealing instead character traits around fragility, vulnerability and a constant battle to prove oneself.

AUTISM HUB’S THE AUTISTIC ADULT CHOIR

4pm - ODAC Stage

Join us as we celebrate being autistic through an engaging set of songs for everyone to sing along with.

REGENT’S PARK SINGERS

A set from our local, friendly and inclusive community choir with lots of audience participation.

THE PLACE WHERE WE LIVE: A DANCE THEATRE CELEBRATION OF HOME BY BEEJA – ANUSHA SUBRAMANYAM DANCE COMPANY IN COLLABORATION WITH RESIDENTS

Dance becomes a vibrant celebration of the spaces we call home, this dance theatre piece delves into the essence of our lived environments, offering a joyful exploration of the places that shape our lives. A follow-up to 2023’s Through Our Eyes, commissioned as part of Love Camden’s South Asian Heritage Month programme.

KALEIDOSCOPE BY BEEJA – ANUSHA SUBRAMANYAM DANCE COMPANY

5.50pm - ODAC Stage

An Indian classical dance extravaganza! Each movement, a hand shape or a sequence of movement,  offers  a whimsical twist, revealing a dazzling array of geometric wonders and enchanting illusions through the shapes that the dancers creates. As the dancer embarks on this visual adventure where reality bends and blurs, and unleash your own power imagination to  resonate with these shapes.

MENDING CIRCLE BY SELINA LATOUR

All day, drop in - Bucklebury

Make a hole. Mend another. The knit ring awaits your participation. 

The first instruction asks you to make a hole: cut a couple of threads of this knit piece.

The second instruction asks you to mend another: choose a hole that you want to mend. This mend can be done in a variety of ways: darning, patching or sewing it up with thread are all options. 

LET’S TWIST BY KALEIDER

All day, drop in - Stanhope & Longford Street Junction

Kaleider invites you to twist and shape our sculptures. They are made out of interconnected prisms that can be twisted into thousands of different shapes. Every time someone changes the sculpture, they inherit their starting point from the people before them. By transforming the shape, they add to the sculpture’s story. Work together, or witness others playing.

TALKAOKE BY THE PEOPLE SPEAK

The interactive talk-show is back for a third year! This time, have your say on arts and culture in Camden. The Council are building a cultural strategy for 2025-2030 and want to hear from you about how you'd like to see Camden's arts and culture scene develop. Help shape the future of your borough.

CIRCUS WORKSHOP WITH ROUNDHOUSE

Perfect for all ages, this drop-in session offers a fun and informal way to learn core circus skills. Try your hand at juggling, spinning poi, mastering the diabolo, and twirling ribbons. Whether you're a beginner or just looking to refine your skills, our friendly instructors are here to guide you every step of the way. MARKET GARDEN ‘PLEDGE PLANTS’ BY FREYA GABIE

The first event as part of a new project in response to the communities of Regents Park Estate, and the historic produce markets once situated here. ‘Market Garden’ will seek to bring a new form of market back to the estate– one that unites ideas of produce, growth, and exchange through a prism of connectivity, reciprocity, resilience, and care.

Contribute a recipe to a new cookbook of all traditions and heritage that acts as a portrait of the food cultures of people that live in the Regents Park Estate.

Young Placemakers from Fitzrovia Youth in Action have selected what they thought residents would enjoy! See how high you can jump on the Bungee Trampoline or bouncy castle, get the highest score on our Giant Football Dart or challenge yourself to get the best time on the Light up challenge! Something for all ages over 5.

THE RPE STORY TRAIL

The Story Trail Project is a celebration of the past, present and future of Regent’s Park Estate, promoting a sense of community, safety and connection through 11 unique art installations. Meet the artists, get involved and learn more about the projects that are in development as part of the forthcoming trail.

A Community Champions Regent’s Park project, produced by ODAC in partnership with Camden Council Parks and Open Spaces, Fitzrovia Youth in Action and University of the Arts Central Saint Martins through T-Factor. The project is funded by HS2 via Camden Council and EU Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Programme.

Camden Youth Theatre is a FREE weekly creative club for young people aged 13-19 who live, work, or go to school in Camden.

Programme 1: Using wire, cardboard, fabrics, and materials, create a new and unique wearable item.
Programme 2: Join for a free drop-in where families will be invited to map their food stories through creative activities for all ages. Talk with other families and share your experiences while learning new creative and cooking skills!

WAC ARTS

A charity that has been driven by the needs of young people and the community for over 45 years, based in the Old Town Hall, Belsize Park.

LITTLE VILLAGE

Little Village makes a big difference to families with babies and young children living in poverty across London. Via our network of  baby banks we pass on loved goods from one family to another – clothes, toys and equipment. Pop by to find out more about donating your pre-loved items to us, volunteering with us and how families can access support locally.

REGENT’S PARK FAMILY HUB 

Regent’s Park Family Hub brings together the children’s centre, Regent’s Park nursery and wider teams working with families across the area together under one roof to serve our local families and all their children. We are running a play zone for our Under 5 year olds with a ball pool, soft play and creative and fun activities. Parents are also welcome to speak to some of our team and meet other local parents whilst children play.

Honest Grind Coffee is a radical employability programme and speciality coffee roastery based in Euston, created by Camden Council's Integrated Youth Support Service, with a public outlet at ODAC. Their programmes build self-esteem, develop work skills, and create clear pathways into employment.

CAMDEN STUDIO SUMMER SHOW

Join the Camden studio artists at The Lounge in Regent's Park Estate for an exhibition of artist work as part of Regent’s Roots Festival.

The Summer Show brings together works from artists and exhibitors from the studios and surrounding borough inside The Lounge, Bow Arts' project space in Langdale House. An opportunity for residents and artists to meet, the event is a celebration of the range of practices and artists working in the area.
