Building on the success of events including June’s Cumberland Fun Fest, this community and arts festival takes place across the area in Cumberland Market, Clarence Gardens and outside Old Diorama Arts Centre (ODAC) on Drummond Street.
Join us for an afternoon of fun together, celebrating the stories of our community.
With a varied and playful programme of interactive art, performances, dance, inflatables, music, films, silent disco, workshops, food, and stalls from local organisations, the festival has been collaboratively curated by and in response to the Community Champions, young people from Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA), and ODAC.

Over the next year, Community Champions Regent’s Park are planning a series of projects exploring bringing the real stories of our area to life. This first festival offers a range of opportunities to exchange, record and share our history, explore our present and imagine our future together with our neighbours and community.

Produced by Fitzrovia Youth in Action and Old Diorama Arts Centre in collaboration with Camden Council Youth Service Detached Project, Regents Park Estate Guardians Project, and University of the Arts London Central St Martins’ Design Against Crime Research Centre.

CUMBERLAND MARKET
Play tells stories.
Our community's centre of play goes big this weekend, with inflatables, music and an interactive radio-show performance where you are the DJ and the chat!
1-4pm: drop-in Hunt and Darton’s Radio Local Lite
Welcome to Radio Local - a brand new pop radio show, hosted by deadpan duo Hunt & Darton, built with, by and for local people. Eking out local people's stories, observations and opinions, from the charmingly mundane to the quite extraordinary to the borderline ridiculous, Radio Local is a celebration of local community.
There are loads of different ways to get involved on the day. Meet one of our Jingle makers kitted out with the finest instruments available from the Early Learning Centre - and record your own Radio Local jingle to be played throughout the day. We will be looking for scoops for the regular News update. We want to hear YOUR news.
After all, it wouldn’t be local without you!
1-4pm: drop-in: Inflatables
Big, bouncy and barmy! Inflatable fun and games for all ages.
Visit stage for line-up and timings: The Cobbles Stage
Young singers, musicians and performers from FYA perform, plus the Regent's Park Singers!
BETWEEN THE SQUARES
Food tells stories.
1-4pm, until it's all gone: Smoothie Bikes
Outside Dick Collins Hall, use your pedal power to make your own delicious fruit smoothie! A double-whammy of healthy snack.
1pm: until it’s all gone! FREE Lunch
Join us on a long communal table and chat to a friend or stranger over lunch! A range of Halal certified BBQ food and vegan options. Food will be available until it runs out, first come first served.
1pm: Steel drums performance by Victor
CLARENCE GARDENS
Conversation tells stories.
As the landscaping works near completion, this will be an opportunity to see what’s been happening in Clarence Gardens over the last couple of months. Camden Council still need to install the railings around the park and all the empty flower beds will be planted this autumn.
In the meantime, the square is a place for new conversations, ideas and information centred around the large London Plane tree that the Community Champions call the Story Tree.
1-4pm, drop-in: Talkaoke with The People Speak
A pop-up talk show where you get to have your say on what’s important to you! Sit around the circular table and pass the mic whenever you want to talk. Be part of the conversation on what’s important in our area, as the topic shifts from one unexpected subject to another - whether it’s funny, deep, out-there, or all of the above.
1-4pm drop-in: Summer of Stories with Central St Martins
Join us around the Story Tree for a variety of interactive projects collecting stories of our community:
Story Line - a washing-line timeline charting 300 years that you can add your stories to, from the past, present and future.
Story Makers - sharing stories through clay, led by Clayground Collective
Story Trail - a trail of characters that join up the festival sites, telling stories about the estate and inviting you to contribute your own
1-4pm: drop-in Information and activity stalls
A selection of Camden’s most vital Council departments, services and community organisations have stalls around the Gardens with activities and ready for conversations. Meet them, take part, get informed - or tell them what they need to know!
At the Camden Detached Team’s stall you can find out more about Regents Park Estate Guardians project, and take part in Contextual Safeguarding quiz, plus a wellbeing scented handcream making workshop from 2.30-4pm.
There will be stalls from: Regent’s Park ward Councillor Nadia Shah, Connexions and Careers Service, FWD Drug and Alcohol Services for Young People in Camden, Roundhouse, British Somali Community Centre, Camden Town Library, Camden Green Space, Brook, Lendlease, SCS, Camden Youth Council, Winston’s Wish.
1-4pm: drop-in Silent Disco
Dance the afternoon away in our disco tent - but quietly!
1-4pm: drop-in FYA Cinema
Watch new short films with a whole lot to say, made by young people from FYA’s creative programmes.
Plus face painting and a Henna artist!
OLD DIORAMA ARTS CENTRE
Dance tells stories.
ODAC presents a series of high-energy, cross-cultural dance performances from professional and local groups. We're dancing in the streets!
1pm and 2.15pm: Remix Dance
Remix Dance is a free community dance project which has been delivering weekly Street Dance classes and performance opportunities for local children aged 5-18 years. Co-founded by Mariam Hassan with Mia Stott-Cohen, and now a project delivered by ODAC.
1.20pm and 3.00pm: Cie. Decalage - Marso Riviere with Mendi Singh
An improvised performance infused by Breaking and contemporary dance, where two worlds collide as dancers are called by the beat of the Tabla.
From different corners, they work and weave in the energy of the city. The show is a playful, humorous and dynamic celebration of cultural diversity.
2pm: Boogie, FX and Breakz - original members of Flawless
A short piece representing poppin’, locking and free styling, choreographed by three original members of Flawless, the award-winning street dance company made famous on Britain’s Got Talent.
1.45pm and 3.30pm: Absolute Bollywood
A combination of Bollywood, Bhangra and Hip-hop, from these Indian Dance innovators. This fusion of eastern and western dance along with captivating moves and spicy hot tunes is highly addictive for the mind, body and the soul. It’s colourful, it’s vibrant, it’s beautiful and it’s infectious – it’s absolute Bollywood!

1-4pm, exploring the area: Story collecting with Lucia Scazzocchio
See if you can find Lucia from Social Broadcasts as she interviews the public for an audio documentary artwork where everyday conversations and narratives create meaningful insights.
1pm and 1.35pm: Mindfulness Meditation with Tee
An indoor, quiet, reflective mediation workshop for beginners upwards, from a local Mindfulness and Somatic Coach. Followed by a scented hand cream making workshop at the Detatched Youth Team’s stall in Clarence Gardens from 2.30pm.
2.30pm and 3.30pm: The Market of Dreams story tour with Sankofa Storytelling Arts
An interactive, theatrical tour of the local area, inspired by the histories of buying, selling and class, in what’s now the Regent’s Park Estate. What would your dream market sell and can we bring it to life?
3.50pm: Regent’s Park Singers
A performance from our community’s very own choir, singing classic pop and folk from around the world.
